OSS 117 Le Caire nid d'espions

(France, 2006, 98 minutes)

French superspy Hubert Bonisseur de la Bath, alias OSS 117, is assigned to discover who killed a French agent in mid-fifties Cairo. A popular French pulp fiction hero of the 1950s and 1960s that got its own film series at the time is reinvented as a spot-on, straight-faced spoof of early sixties spy thrillers and particularly of early Bond films, making good fun of the genre’s outdated trappings.
