Spider-Man 3

(USA, 2007, 134 minutes)

Comforted by the fact that his crime-fighting alter-ego Spider-Man has become New York’s hero, Peter Parker turns into a selfish, aloof hero, alienating his long-time girlfriend and his friends – but that is the least of his problems, as new enemies and a myserious meteorite come up to his life. This disappointing third entry in a so far intelligent series of comic-strip adventures falls in the exact trap of its own hero by believing its own hype and becoming the cartoonish melodrama that the previous entries weren’t, with the state-of-the-art effects shining at the expense of plot and character.
