The Mist

(USA, 2007, 126 minutes)

A strange, unearthly mist rolls into a small town, and a number of people trapped inside the supermarket find out there are deadly creatures in it waiting to prey on them. Eerie horror thriller that builds up a fine head of gory steam and sustains its dark, disturbing mood throughout; the bleak ending singles it out as a more thoughtful, adult entry in the genre.
