Les Amants

The Lovers

(France, 1958, 90 minutes)

An unhappily married, bored provincial housewife who spends most of her time with her society friend and polo-playing admirer in Paris is swept off her feet by an archaeologist who gives her a ride home. Hyper-romantic, affecting melodrama of adultery that created a public scandal for showing a woman happier with her lover than with her family.
