Brüno

(USA, 2009, 79 minutes)

A disgraced Austrian gay fashionista tries to reinvent himself as a celebrity in the US. For all intents and purposes Borat part 2, with the star again playing “in character” through a series of loosely threaded “candid camera” situations; the emphasis here is on homophobia and sex, which makes it even more challenging and uncomfortable viewing than its predecessor, without the benefit of the surprise effect.
