EXIT THROUGH THE GIFT SHOP

Great Britain
2010
86 minutes

Thierry Guetta, a Frenchman based in Los Angeles, decides to document the nascent movement of “street art” but, faced with a wealth of footage he can't make heads or tails of, decides to become a street artist himself. Ingenious meditation on the value and significance of art disguised as an engaging documentary that, having been assembled by an artist who is himself a master of manipulation, always makes the viewer wonder what is fact and what is fancy.

A Paranoid Pictures Film Company presentation/production; produced in association with Keo Films.
A Banksy film; narrated by Rhys Ifans; produced by Jaimie d'Cruz; music by Geoff Barrow; film editors, Chris King, Tom Fulford; sound, Jim Carey.
Screened: Berlin Film Festival advance press screening, Cinemaxx 6 (Berlin), February 13th 2010.
