LE PÈRE DE MES ENFANTS

The Father of My Children

France/Germany
2009
110 minutes

A Parisian film producer finds himself falling into bankruptcy and his response to it sends shock waves into his family. Sensitive drama neatly divided into two halves: a spot-on portrait of modern-day independent filmmaking and a somewhat underwhelming family melodrama. The leading character is openly inspired by the late French producer Humbert Balsan, who was in talks to produce Mia Hansen-Løve's first film before his company's bankruptcy led him to take his own life.
